In observance of the Special Tourist Welcoming Month in October, Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Visit Korea Committee have joined together to open welcome centers for international tourists from October 13 to 22.
A total of seven welcome centers will be set up at major tourist attractions and special tourist zones, located in Myeong-dong, Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, Itaewon, Gwangjang Market, Namsan, and Hongdae. Assistance will be available in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian, to provide information related to Korean tourism as well as offer special region-themed experience activities.
A variety of events will also be available, such as a photo event, postcard event, lucky draw, and more! In addition, each welcome center focuses on a specific theme depending on its location – shopping in Myeong-dong, fashion in Dongdaemun, traditional culture in Namdaemun, multiculturism in Itaewon, food culture in Gwangjang Market, Seoul’s landscape and landmarks in Namsan, and youth culture in Hongdae. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Korean culture through traditional and modern performances such as the samulnori (traditional percussion quartet), gugak (traditional Korean music), and K-pop.
